General Information

Hunting Packages:
Included in each hunting package is a 4-day guided hunt, field prep, gutting/skinning/caping, permits/tags, delicious home-cooked meals, and lodging in a newly furnished log cabin with kitchen, living room, bathroom, bedrooms, and wrap-around deck. Transportation to and from the John G. Diefenbaker International Airport (YXE) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan will be provided by the hunt ranch owners at no additional charge.

Each hunt will entail walking and stalking, as well as the opportunity to utilize our treestands (moderate climbing ability is required). The use of Honda ATVs is also made available at no additional charge.

While staying at Wapiti Island Whitetails, each hunter has the opportunity to engage in bird-watching and canoeing on the beautiful lake that our hunt ranch is known for. There are also many other small, native animals that call Wapiti Island Whitetails home and add to the scenic nature of our ranch.

Each hunter may also have the opportunity to engage in unguided Duck and Goose hunting on our property at no additional charge during their 4-day hunting adventure, time permitting. Please note that Duck and Goose hunting will only be fulfilled if in-season and pending availability.

Hunting Licenses:
No hunting licenses are required from the hunter, as Wapiti Island Whitetails will supply each hunter with all the necessary permits and tags.

Firearms:
In order to transport a firearm across the Canadian border, a Non-Resident Canadian Firearm Declaration Form and its Continuation Sheet (if required) must be completed and presented, unsigned, to a customs officer at your first point of entry into Canada.

To obtain these forms, please click the following links:
Non-Resident Canadian Firearm Declaration Form
Continuation Sheet  (required only if you are transporting more than three firearms into Canada)

The declaration form should be filled out prior to arrival at the point of entry, in order to save time. However, it should not be signed before arriving at the entry point, as a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) customs officer must witness the signature.

A confirmed declaration costs a flat fee of $25, regardless of the number of firearms listed on it. It is valid only for the person who signs it and only for those firearms listed on the declaration.

Once the declaration has been confirmed by the CBSA customs officer, it acts as a licence for the owner and it is valid for 60 days. The declaration can be renewed for free, providing it is renewed before it expires, by contacting the Chief Firearms Officer (call 1-800-731-4000) of the relevant province or territory.

Meat, Hide, and Trophies:
The meat, hide, and antlers from all hunts can be transported across the Canada-United States border. Wapiti Island Whitetails will supply each client with the necessary paperwork and forms to ensure hassle-free transportation of these items. Wapiti Island Whitetails will also assist you with packing materials in order to safely transport your items home.

Access to local professional meat processors is available upon request, at an additional charge, in order to tend to your specific meat processing needs. Dry Ice is also available for purchase from a supplier in the nearby city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan which will aid in keeping your meat frozen during your travels. It is also recommended to bring large coolers with you if you plan to transport meat back home. Coolers can also be purchased in the city of Saskatoon at retail stores, such as Cabela's or Walmart.

Guiding:
Wapiti Island Whitetails offers one-on-one guiding service, as each hunter will receive their own personal guide. Each guide is equipped with a lifetime of hunting experience and knowledge, and have visited numerous hunting camps around the world. Our guides have a clear understanding of what a client expects of a hunt ranch and their respective guiding service. Therefore, you can be assured that the level of expertise that you will receive at Wapiti Island Whitetails is guaranteed to meet your expectations.

Additional Animals:
In addition to Elk, Whitetail Deer, Reindeer, and Buffalo, Wapiti Island Whitetails also offers unguided Duck and Goose hunting to those hunters who are interested in waterfowl. Duck and Goose hunting is available on property, in-season, license required and is included in your 4-day hunting package, time permitting.
