Wapiti Island Whitetails was very honored to have participated in the Wounded Warriors Canada Program during this past Fall 2018 hunting season. We were approached by the Saskatchewan Rivers Chapter of SCI about hosting a wounded warrior and fulfilling his dream of hunting an elk. There was no question that we wanted to participate!
In late October 2018, we hosted wounded warrior, Dan Matheson, at our lodge to hunt the elk of his dreams. Dan was an absolute pleasure to host and Wapiti Island Whitetails felt very lucky to have been a part of his hunting experience and to support the Wounded Warriors Canada program!
At the recent Saskatchewan Rivers SCI annual fundraising banquet in April 2019, Wapiti Island Whitetails was recognized for its participation in the Wounded Warriors Canada program and was very honored to be so graciously recognized by Dan Matheson himself, infront of the banquet audience. See below for photos and video from the banquet with Wapiti Island Whitetails' owner, Stan Shewchuk, Wounded Warriors Canada Participant, Dan Matheson, and Saskatchewan Rivers Chapter of SCI President, Ken Weber.
Thanks again to Saskatchewan Rivers Chapter of SCI for approaching Wapiti Island Whitetails to participate in this very important program to help Canada's ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans, first responders and their families!
